Testing needed for SasView 4.2.0-beta
by Paul Butler 25 Jul '18

25 Jul '18

Dear users of SasView, It has been over a year since our last SasView release, and we are now pre paring for a 4.2 release. As part of that process, we have now released a 4. 2.0-Beta version, available as a “Pre-release” on the releases page at: https://github.com/SasView/sasview/releases. With 4.2 the transition to a p lugin architecture for models should be complete as should the refactor of t he orientational representation/calculation for 2D oriented particles. By n ow many of you on this list may already have been using a 4.2 development ve rsion. As we move towards a new release, we would greatly appreciate any te sting you or your friends and colleagues can do on this beta version and any feedback you can give as we prepare for the full final release of 4.2.0. For those willing and interested in contributing, note that the next code camp is being held starting September 3 this year in Lund. If interested in joining us feel free to visit the wiki at http://trac.sasview.org/wiki/Code CampVIII and drop us a line. All skills sets are welcome. Besides various le vels of coding and sysadmin skills, we also need people who can help review, edit, and create user documentation as well as work on the tutorials proje cts, verify the math etc etc. Thanks for your help Paul (on behalf of the development team)

Re: [SasView Users] Batch fitting - distribution of radius not reported
by Stephen King - UKRI STFC 06 May '18

Dear Benjamin, In the Batch (Results) Window, if you click Edit, and then Insert Column, y ou should get a list of undisplayed parameters. Does that list have the para meter you require? If not, can you tell us what version of SasView you are using, please, and on what platform (Win/Mac)? Kind regards, Steve King (on behalf of the developers) From: Benjamin Wahlmann <benjamin.wahlmann(a)fau.de> Sent: 05 May 2018 14:28 To: users(a)sasview.org Subject: Batch fitting - distribution of radius not reported Dear fellow SasView users, I recently started evaluating SAXS data of gamma prime-precipitates in meta ls. Since we do time-resolved studies, we have large amounts of scattering c urves, so I am using the batch fitting mode. I a, using the sphere form fac tor model and I would like to calculate the mean radius and the radius distr ibutions of those precipitates (using a Gaussian distribution function); how ever, in the batch fitting results panel, I get no report on “radius.width ” although I marked “distribution of radius” for fitting. Am I doing something wrong or is this intentional? Also, is there any way to batch fit the distribution of radius? I’d appreciate your help very much. Kind regards, Benjamin Wahlmann M.Sc. SASView - polyspersity, mean. median
by Jaroslav Kousal 17 Apr '18

17 Apr '18

Dear Sir/Madam, I using now SASView package to analyse SAXS data, thank you for this valueable piece of software. However, I am not fully sure, which parameter of the lognormal distribution ( http://www.sasview.org/docs/user/sasgui/perspectives/fitting/pd_help.html ) is used in the sphere model ( http://www.sasview.org/docs/user/models/sphere.html ) as "radius". Is it the x_mean, x_med or x_peak? The FAQ seems to suggests that "radius" is the "x_mean" and that the distribution itself is a number distribution. Is this correct? Core + 2 shells cylinder model
by irenal＠campus.technion.ac.il 19 Mar '18

Hello, I'm a PhD student in the chemical engineering dept. at the Technion institute of technology, Israel. I study carbon nanotubes dispersions stabilized with dispersants using SANS. I am looking for a model similar to the idea of "core_multi_shell" but for a cylinder instead of a sphere. I need a cylinder with a core and 2 concentric shells, each shell has its own SLD. Are you familiar with such a model? I've looked in the search engine and in the marketplace but could not find such a model. Best, Irena Levin

Bug in the version 4.1.2

Dear Development team, I am a postdoc researcher at Swinburne University of Technology in Australi a. I am analysing my data and I am facing one issue from a very time. Guinier-Porod model works well in Q range 1 Guinier-Porod model works well in Q range 2 However, when I customize a model Guinier-Porod + Guinier-Porod, model does not fit at all. Can you please urgently respond to this email and advise on how do I fix th e issue? FYI – I have attached the log file. Same issue was found in earlier versions too – I have been trying every v ersion and no help. Thanks, Rohan Sent from Mail for Windows 10

[Sasview-users] NEW SasView User Mailing List
by Andrew Jackson 27 Oct '17

27 Oct '17

Dear SasView Users We are migrating all the various SasView mailing lists away from sourceforge to better be able to support the project, and you the users of SasView. Thus, please all subscribe to the mailing list here: http://lists.sasview.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/users The old list at sourceforge will be decommissioned at the end of November. Re: [Sasview-users] [Sasview-help] bug report for version WIN 4.1.2
by Paul Butler 08 Sep '17

Glad that your first issue was solved and sorry about not getting back to your question from the user list. Actually for particular feature requests the help list I think would be the best. also you can try emailing the developers list at developers@...642... There is currently a long list of tasks from major bug fixes, to major revisions and including feature requests which can be viewed at trac.sasview.org under tickets. A direct link to one common way to look at those would be http://trac.sasview.org/report/3 Please feel free to suggest things that you think would be the highest impact for your work Regarding "soft constraints" could you elaborate what you mean? Currently fairly complex equality constraints are supported though there are questions about how well those work when polydispersity is used. Inequality constraints are not supported though there is interest in seeing that. Doing inequality constraints correctly is much harder which is the current bottleneck. Dear Developers of SASVIEW First of all I would like to acknowledge the quality and usefulness of the numerous SASVIEW versions. My question now is if it is possible to suggest new features and improvements (from a plain user point of view) for the next versions of the program using this or any other channel. Thank you very much in advance for your answer.
