Core + 2 shells cylinder model
Hello, I'm a PhD student in the chemical engineering dept. at the Technion institute of technology, Israel. I study carbon nanotubes dispersions stabilized with dispersants using SANS. I am looking for a model similar to the idea of "core_multi_shell" but for a cylinder instead of a sphere. I need a cylinder with a core and 2 concentric shells, each shell has its own SLD. Are you familiar with such a model? I've looked in the search engine and in the marketplace but could not find such a model. Best, Irena Levin
Dear Irena, As you have noticed, SasView does not have a multi-shell cylinder model. Bu t since you are now the third person in the last 6 months to have asked for such a model, maybe it is about time we provided one! I will ‘ticket’ t he requirement… In the meantime, the only fitting program I know with such a model is Olivi er Tache’s pySAXS. But it is not the most straightforward program to use. Dear Irena, PS For the specific case of carbon nanotubes, the cylinders are of course very long and thin, so writing a model that performs the necessary numerical integrations reliably and accurately is non-trivial. Some other members of the sasview coding team have already had some thoughts in this direction .
