As Steve King says, SasView is, by design, not intended for reduction operations and the packages he suggests, at least the first two, a re better choices for reduction. NIKA and INDRA are the SAXS reduction packa ges associated with IRENA.  I do not know what is available in them for your needs.

I though I would however add that If you cannot get your data into tho se packages and have figured a way to read them into SasView you might be ab le to create a python script to do what you are looking for.  Obviously , since you will be using the bits in SasView for purposes beyond what they were intended you will be breakin g new ground and on your own.  However you can look at the latest docum entation for help on how to script SasView(available from within SasView or from the website under the help tab). Also There is a nice tutorial given at the recent SAS2018 meeting (how to use the command line interface .. basically scripting using Jupyter notebook s as I recall) which can also be found on the web site at http://www.sasview.or g/meetings/SasView_CLI_overview.html

Best of luck

Hello Matt,< /span>

Is this 1D or 2D data you are talking about? And raw data or reduced data?

There is a tool in SasView which will let you do what you want with two already reduced datasets, but one subtraction at a time. In truth, what you want to do is not what SasView was designed for. That should be something the data reduction software at whichever facility you collect ed the data can sort out for you. Have you talked to your local contact.< /u>

Otherwise, packages that m ight meet your needs are DAWN and Mantid which are python-based and can be s cripted. Possibly Irena and FIT2D also.

Kind regards,

Steve King

Subject: [SasView Users] Background subtraction with multiple datase ts

Hello all,

I have a large number (thousands) o f SAXS patterns from a kinetics study which I would like to perform solvent background subtraction on, I was wondering if there is an easy way to implem ent this data operation for a large number of patterns all at once which all have the same background wh ich needs to be subtracted? The background is simply reaction solvent record ed over the same q range.

Many thanks, < /p>

Matt Greenberg
