Dear SasView friends,

We apologize for the delay in making this exciting announcement: On May
20th, SasView 5.0, previewed at SAS2018 in Traverse City, was finally
released and is available through the website. This release marks the
culmination of a multiyear effort funded through the SINE2020 project and
provides the first major overhaul of the user interface. The complete
restructuring of the GUI code (along with a fair amount of the rest of the
code shared with 4.x) should position SasView well for the next 10 years,
however it is likely that there will be some unexpected issues. Thus 4.x
will continue to be updated with bugs fixes and, as necessary, feature
changes in the shared code that were introduced for 5.0, but no new 4.x
specific features are anticipated.

At the same time, on May 20th, the 4.2.2 bug fix was released and is also
available on the site. This fixes the two bugs introduced in 4.2.1:
inability to load project files and 2D resolution on being applied to 1
quadrant. No other changes were made.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to try out the new 5.0 version
and give your feedback so work on 5.1 can be prioritized. As always
contributions at any level are appreciated from testing to editing/creating
documentation and tutorials to code development.

Sincerely,

Paul Butler for the SasView team
